Während der Fahrt erzählte mir die Auftraggeberin von einem keltischen Baumkreis, den sie später um den Teich herum anlegen würde und von verschiedenen Gartenanlagen, die sie davor besichtigt hatte. Ich stellte mir dazu ein Lagerfeuer an einem Abend im Spätsommer vor, mit Menschen rundherum, die große gebratene Fleischstücke in ihren Händen hielten, von denen sie herunterbissen und andere, die aus rieseigen Humpen Bier tranken. Mehrere Jahre später war ich dann dort zu einem Sonnwendfeuer eingeladen. Die jungen Bäume dieses Baumkreises waren schon ein Stück gewachsen. Für das Feuer waren einige dünne Baumstämme zur Form eines A zusammengestellt. Nicht nur, dass die anwesenden Gäste mit Besteck von einem Teller aßen und aus Gläsern tranken, die meisten waren overdressed und ließen sich bedienen.

During the trip, my commissioner told me about a Celtic tree calendar that she planned to set out around the pond and spoke about different gardens that she had visited before. I imagined a campfire one late summer evening, people around it holding pieces of meat and biting off them. Others were drinking beer from huge steins. Several years later I was invited to a Midsummer Festival there. The young trees had already grown. For the campfire, thin logs of wood had been placed in the shape of an A. Not only were the people invited eating from plates using cutlery and drinking from glasses, most of them were overdressed and were having the food and drinks served to them.

La committente mi aveva parlato di un cerchio magico di alberi che avrebbe fatto piantare intorno allo stagno e di vari giardini importanti che aveva visitato prima. Io mi immaginai un fuoco all’aperto, una sera estiva, con tanta gente intorno che mangiava a morsi la carne arrostita che teneva tra le mani e altri che bevevano birra da grandi boccali. Parecchi anni dopo mi invitò ai fuochi del solstizio d’estate . I giovani alberelli erano già un po‘ cresciuti, alcuni tronchi erano stati sistemati per il fuoco, la gente intorno però non solo mangiava da piatti usando posate e beveva da bicchieri, la maggior parte portava robe elegantissime e si faceva servire.
