An der Haushaltsführung der beiden männlichen Inhaber, fiel auf, dass sie eine zusammengetragene Sammlung von Geschirr im Einsatz hatten, mit Bedacht darauf, dass keines der Einzelteile ein zweites Mal vorkam. Der Kaffee wurde in Espressokannen gekocht, so wie ich sie bei mir zu Hause verwende, auch die Größe war die gleiche, so dass jeder dritte Gast auf den nächsten Kaffee warten musste. Ich fühlte mich dort wohl, und mir gefiel, wie sie ihren Gästen kein genormtes Standard Frühstück anboten, stattdessen gab es, was im Augenblick des Erscheinens gerade fertig war. Während die aktuellen Gäste aßen, war wieder etwas im Backrohr, und der Herd hatte die Größe von einem mittelgroßen privaten Haushalt, und wer wollte, konnte auch gleich in der Küche Platz nehmen. Einer unserer Gastgeber erzählte, wie er am Flug der Schwalben erkenne, was für ein Wetter kommt. Für die Dauer unseres Aufenthalts trafen sein Prognosen jedenfalls zu, und der Regen begann um die Zeit, die er genannt hatte. Ich dachte mir, dort will ich bei meinem nächsten Florenz Aufenthalt unbedingt wieder wohnen, aber das müssen sich schon viele Leute denken, denn seither war es jedes Mal zum gewünschten Zeitpunkt ausgebucht.

The two male owners of the café seemed to make a point in collecting all kinds of different dishes for their breakfast dishes. Not a single cup or plate had the same color or form as the other. They made their coffee in the same Italian coffee brewer as I have at home, which slowed down the process of serving breakfast. I immediately felt at ease and I particularly liked the idea of not getting a normed breakfast. They just served what was available. While some of the guests where eating already, the others had to wait for the pastry that was still in the oven. One of our hosts told us that he can forecast the weather only by looking at the sweep of the swallows, which actually was correct for the whole length of our stay. I always wanted to go there again, but whenever I tried to book a room there, they were fully booked.
fwbd5,5, Stoviglie nel Corte dei Principi: olio su tela, 50 x 70 cm. Notai con grande meraviglia che i due proprietari maschi usavano stoviglie di vario tipo e genere, tutti pezzi unici, neanche uno che assomigliasse a un altro. Il caffè veniva preparato in una moka, come la uso anche a casa mia, anche della stessa misura, tanto che ogni terzo ospite doveva aspettare la nuova moka. Io mi ci trovai bene, mi piaceva la colazione insolita, offrivano ciò che era pronto al momento dell’arrivo dell’ospite. Mentre alcuni mangiavano, nel forno si scaldavano nuove cose, la cucina era quella di una casa normale, e chi voleva, poteva mettersi seduto direttamente in cucina. Uno dei proprietari raccontò che era capace di predire il tempo dal volo delle rondini. Per la durata del nostro soggiorno le sue previsioni furono esatte. La pioggia cominciò nel momento che aveva previsto. Pensavo di ritornare lì anche per il mio prossimo soggiorno a Firenze, ma a quanto pare non fui l’unica a pensarla così: da allora fu sempre tutto esaurito nel periodo richiesto.
