09, Aufgetaucht. Öl auf Leinwand, 70 x 70 cm, Jänner 2001. Ein Bild verändert sich für mich tatsächlich, wenn mehrere Betrachter es kommentieren. Über dieses Bild sind zwei Besucher in meinem Atelier in Streit geraten: Für die an Kunst und Zeitgeschehen interessierte Dame war darin eindeutig das Seilbahnunglück von Kaprun zu sehen, was ein Schriftsteller für einen völligen Schwachsinn hielt. Dieses war ihm bis zur eben gehörten Äußerung das liebste Bild von mir gewesen. Es sei ihm jetzt durch die Bemerkung völlig vergraust. Ich aber weiß beim besten Willen nicht mehr, was ich mir alles gedacht hatte, als ich es malte.
09, Surfaced, oil on canvas, 70 cm by 70 cm, January 2001. In fact a painting changes for me when several viewers comment on it. Two visitors to my studio got involved in an argument about this painting. For the lady, interested in art and current affairs, the painting clearly showed the cable railway disaster of Kaprun which in the eyes of the writer was pure nonsense. Up to that statement of the lady this painting had been his favourite among my pictures. This statement completely spoilt it for him. I, however, cannot for the life of me remember what I was thinking or intending when I was painting it.
09, Emerso, olio su tela, 70 x 70 cm, gennaio 2001: Un quadro cambia veramente per me, se più persone lo commentano. Questo quadro ha provocato una lite nel mio studio tra due visitatori: una signora interessata alla cultura e all’attualità ci vedeva senza ombra di dubbio la catastrofe di Kaprun il che per uno scrittore era una completa stupidaggine. Fino allora quel quadro era stato il suo preferito, il commento della signora, però, gliel‘ ha sciupato. Io invece non riesco proprio a ricordare che cosa mi passasse per la mente mentre lo dipingevo.
