Hier handelt es sich um ein Auftragsbild: Ich sollte nach Schloss Rotenturm, ein maurisches Bauwerk in der Nähe von Oberwart, ein möglichst realistisches Bild malen. Ein Wiedererkennen des tatsächlichen Schlosses wäre bis zur zweiten Schicht eventuell möglich gewesen, doch habe ich umständehalber den Kontakt mit den Auftraggebern vermieden und innerhalb von zwei Jahren immer wieder bei dem Bild etwas dazugemalt oder wieder abgedeckt, so dass es in der „Endfassung” bestenfalls als Vorlage für einen eventuellen Umbau Verwendung finden könnte.
pb25, Rotenturm Castle, oil on cardboard, 50 cm by 40 cm, between 1997 and 1999. I painted this picture on commission. I was engaged to paint a realistic picture of the Castle of Rotenturm, a Moorish building near Oberwart. The real castle would have been recognizable until I painted it over for the third time but due to certain circumstances I avoided having contact to my orderers and within two years I constantly added or covered parts of the picture so that the „final version“ of it could at best serve as a draft for possible alterations to the castle.
