Wegen des ganzen Theaters mit den Haustieren an allen Tagen, hatte ich mir fälschlicherweise ein Jahr lang eingeprägt, dass in der Via Roma auch der Eingang zum zoologischen Garten wäre, in Wirklichkeit ist dort aber der Eingang zum Botanischen Garten. Auf dem Tor ist die Tafel „Orto Botanico“ mit der Angabe der Öffnungszeiten. Unsere Gastgeber hatten ja auch ein inniges Verhältnis zu den Pflanzen, und an den Tagen unserer Anwesenheit ging es hauptsächlich um die Kakteen. Abgesehen davon ist in der Via Roma auf den Stadtplänen die Universität für Medizin eingezeichnet, mit dem Vermerk „geschlossen“. Also war es das alte Gebäude. Ich habe bis jetzt aber noch nicht in Erfahrung gebracht, ob Galileo Galilei in den Jahren seines Medizinstudiums genau in diesem Gebäude ein und ausgegangen war. Ich stelle es mir aber einfach vor.

Because of all the chaos we had with different kinds of pets around our apartment I thought for one year that the entrance to the zoological garden is right at the Via Roma. Later, however, I found out that it was the botanical garden. The sign at the door said “Orto Botanico” and the opening hours were written next to it. Our host had a strange relationship to her plants too. From the moment of our arrival she kept talking about her cactuses. In addition to the confusion of botanical and zoological garden, the University of Medicine is marked within the city plan. In reality it is only an old abandoned building. Until now I couldn´t find out whether Galileo Galilei has studied there. But I just imagine that he did so.

Per le continue confusioni con gli animali in casa, mi ero messa in testa che in Via Roma ci fosse anche l’entrata al giardino zoologico, in verità però c’è l’entrata al giardino botanico. Sul portone la scritta “Orto Botanico” con l’orario di apertura. I nostri padroni di casa amavano molto anche le piante, e nei giorni della nostra presenza si parlava quasi solo di cactus. A parte questo, sulla pianta della città, in Via Roma è segnata anche la facoltà di medicina con aggiunto “chiusa”. Era il vecchio edificio, quindi. Finora non sono riuscita a capire se Galileo Galilei entrasse e uscisse da quell’edificio durante il suo studio di medicina. Comunque me lo immagino così.
