fv21, Getting Reception, oil on canvas, 50 cm by 70 cm, January 2001: This picture was painted after sketches drawn the previous summer in Bolsena. Germans, Dutch, Romans and a few Austrians go there because this small town , about 70 km north of Rome, is situated on a volcanic lake. They emphasize that here it is “like at the seaside” although it would take them less time to get to the seaside. Actually Bolsena is a hole with a road leading along the lake and one single straight street through the old town. Still there are some winding turnings along stairs leading to some single houses and to a castle, to which you can go up along at least two of these stairs. The townscape strikes above all because of the aerials. Each roof holds at least two (see “Aerial Town”). However, to be on reception with my “telefonino” I had to look for higher free places.

fv21, In ascolto, olio su tela, 50 x 70 cm, gennaio 2001: in base agli schizzi dell‘ estate scorsa a Bolsena.
