fwbd7,29, Padua, Autobahnraststätte, Öl auf Leinwand, 38 x 78 cm. Auf der Rückfahrt legten wir eine längere Pause in Padua ein, aber nur an der Autobahnraststätte, die dort eine von den wenigen mit dem weiß- blauen Logo „Fini“ ist, und wo ich auch mit meiner Lebensmittel- Intoleranz etwas zu essen bekomme, das mir guttut. Nicht nur, dass ich selbstverständlich mit meinem Hund ins Restaurant kommen konnte, es gab für Gina auch noch eine extra Portion Hundefutter. Alle Situationen beurteile ich danach, wie sie für mich zusammen mit meinem Hund passen können.

On the way back, we took a longer break in Padua, but only at a motorway service station, which was one of the few with the white and blue logo „Fini” where I could get something good for me to eat even with my food intolerance. Not only could I come in with my dog, there was also an extra portion of dog food for her. I assess all situations according to their suitability for both, me and my dog.

Durante il viaggio di ritorno ci fermammo a Padova, solo ad un autogrill, uno dei pochi contrassegnati „Fini“, dove riesco a trovare qualcosa da mangiare anche per me, con le mie intolleranze a vari cibi,. Non solo sono potuta entrare con il mio cane, ci fu anche una porzione extra apposta per Gina. Se per me insieme al mio cane tutto va bene, allora anche la situazione va bene.

fwbd7,32, Meine große Schafherde, Öl auf Leinwand, 74 x 97 cm. Über die Jahre hatte ich mich wieder und wieder gefragt, warum Gina denn nicht einfach die Nacht über durchschlafen könnte, wie es die Hunde anderer Leute tun. Sie war von ihren Anlagen her in Hüter-Hund, der über Nacht eine ganze Schafherde für mich gehütet hätte. Ich konnte sie aber nicht gut, mitten in der Innenstadt allein über Nacht im Hinterhofgarten des Hauses lassen, wie sie es gerne gehabt hätte.

fwbd7,32, My big flock of sheep, oil on canvas, 74 x 97 cm. Over the years I had wondered again and again why Gina couldn’t have just sleep through the nights like other people’s dogs do. In her natural disposition she was a guardian dog who would have looked after a whole flock of sheep for me during the night. But I could not have left her alone in the backyard of the house in the middle of the city, as she would have liked.

fwbd7,32, Il Mio Grande Gregge, olio su tela, 74 x 97 cm.  Nei tanti anni con Gina mi sono chiesta spesso come mai non riuscisse a dormire la notte come centinaia di cani di altri padroni. Aveva i geni del cane pastore, che la notte avrebbe protetto per me un intero gregge . Ma non potevo lasciarla sola in un cortile in centro, come avrebbe voluto lei.

fwbd7,44,Schneedienst,Dezember, Öl auf Leinwand, 60 x 60 cm. Vom italienischen Wetterbericht beeinflusst, drängte ich auf vorzeitiges Zurückfahren. Ich war für den Schneedienst vor unserem Haus zuständig. Es war niemand da, den ich um Vertretung hätte fragen können. Auf der Fahrt waren die Straßen aber durchwegs trocken, nur auf den Bergkuppen war aus der Ferne Schnee zu sehen. Vor unserem Haus war dann gar nichts, erst am darauffolgenden Morgen fielen ein paar spärliche Flocken.

fwbd7,44, Snow-plowing service, December, oil on canvas, 60 x 60 cm. Influenced by the Italian weather report, I urged to go back early. I was responsible for the snow plowing in front of our house. There was no one I could have asked to do that for me. During the drive, the roads where consistently dry, I could only make out snow on the mountain tops at a distance. Then there was no snow in front of our house, a few sparse flakes only fell on the following morning.

fwbd7,44.Spalaneve, Dicembre, olio su tela, 60 x 60 cm. Impressionata dalle previsioni metereologiche in Italia ero propensa ad anticipare la partenza. Ero responsabile di spalare la neve sul marciapiede del nostro palazzo. Non c’era nessuno che potesse sostituirmi. Lungo il viaggio però le strade erano tutte asciutte, solo sulle cime lontane si vedeva neve. Davanti al nostro palazzo poi non c’era niente, solo la mattina dopo qualche fiocco sperduto.

fwbd7,45,Schneedienst, Öl auf Leinwand, 50 x 60 cm. Winterdienst hatte ich trotzdem, sobald die Gehsteige eingesalzen sind. Vor jedem Hinausgehen cremte ich Ginas Pfoten mit Bienenwachssalbe ein, damit das Salz sie nicht ätzte. Die Menschen mit Hunden sprechen miteinander und gehen mit dem Salz ohnehin deutlich rücksichtsvoller um, die anderen lassen sich nicht blicken und häufen über Nacht vor ihren Häusern ganze Salzberge an, schon lange bevor wirklich Schnee fällt.

fwbd7,45, Snow-plowing service, oi on canvas, 50 x 60 cm. As soon as the sidewalks were salted, I was on snow-plowing duty. Every time I went out, I put bees-wax creme on Gina’s paws so that the salt would not hurt her. People with dogs talk with each other and are much more considerate with the salt anyway. The others don’t show up and pile up mountains of salt in front of their houses, overnight, long before snow actually falls.

fwbd7,45. Spalaneve, Gennaio, olio su tela, 50 x 60 cm. Ero di turno lo stesso. Dal momento in cui spargevano il sale, a ogni uscita mettevo una crema a base di cera d’api sulle zampe di Gina, per evitare conseguenze spiacevoli dovute al sale. I vari padroni di cani ne parlano tra di loro e limitano l’uso del sale ad un minimo, gli altri invece non si fanno vedere e buttano montagne di sale la notte, prima ancora che venga la neve.

fwbd7,46, An der nächsten Kreuzung, links, Öl auf Leinwand, 40 x 60 cm. Auf einem der ultrakurzen Ausgänge, nur über die nächste Kreuzung und zurück, waren neben der Mülltonne zwei bespannte Keilrahmen abgestellt, die ich mitnahm. In der aktuellen Phase schläft Gina oft schon so tief, dass ich von Zeit zu Zeit nachschaue, ob sie noch atmet. Ich wecke sie tagsüber zweimal, hebe sie an, damit ich mit ihr in den Garten komme, um Nachtdienst zu vermeiden. Aus dem gemeinsamen Stück Zaun der Hinterhofgärten hatte ich mit der Nachbarin von schräg gegenüber so viel Draht ausgefädelt, dass ihr schlanker Hund zu Gina herüberschlupfen konnte. Das kurze gegenseitige Beschnuppern freute sie, auch wenn sie nicht mehr spielte, und sie schaute ihrem Freund zu, wie er bei uns herumsauste.

On one of our ultra-short walks, just down the block and back, two stretched canvas frames were parked next to the garbage can, which I took with me. At that time, Gina often slept so soundly that, from time to time, I went to check if she was still breathing. During the day, I would wake her up twice and lift her up to go into the garden with her to avoid going out at night. Together with a neighbour from the next house, I had removed some wire from the fence between the two backyards so that her slender dog could slip through to Gina, who was happy to sniff at the other dog briefly and to watch him frolic around.

fwbd7,46. Al Prossimo Incrocio, a sinistra, olio su tela, 40 x 60 cm. Durante una delle nostre brevissime uscite, giusto al primo incrocio e indietro, all’isola ecologica vidi 2 telai a cuneo e le portai a casa. Attualmente Gina ha un sonno talmente profondo, che di tanto in tanto controllo se sia ancora viva. Durante il giorno la sveglio due volte , la alzo e la porto nel cortile per avitare levatacce  notturne. Con la vicina di fronte avevo sfilato un pezzo di filo dal reticolato comune perchè il suo cane potesse  venire a trovare Gina. Le piaceva molto il breve incontro con l’amico anche se non giocava più ma guardava il suo amico scorazzare attraverso il nostro cortile.

fwbd7,48, Garten im April, Öl auf Leinwand, 50 x 60 cm. Ich betone nebensächliche Handlungen, für die ich mir genaue Uhrzeiten festlege, um mich daran festzuhalten. Mein Gartenbild habe ich aus den Formen von angedeuteten Espressokannen gestaltet, und ich konzentrierte mich auf die Sonnenstrahlen des Frühlings, was mir schließlich für eine Weile gelang.

fwbd7,48, Garden in April, oil on canvas, 50 x 60 cm. I used to attach importance and set times to trivial actions to have a structure I could hold onto. I created my garden picture from the shapes of the upper part of a „Bialetti“, and I concentrated on the spring sunshine, which I finally managed for a while.

fwbd7,48. Giardino in Aprile, olio su tela, 50 x 60 cm. Stabilisco un orario preciso per lavoretti secondari, per aggrapparmici.  Il quadro del giardino si è sviluppato dalle forme di macchinette da caffè, e mi concentrai sui raggi del sole primaverile, il che, per un pò fu anche possibile.

fwbd7,49, Aufgang zum Schlossberg, Öl auf Leinwand, 40 x 60 cm. Ich bemühe mich zwischendurch auch, mir vorzusagen, was ich jetzt alles als Entlastung auffassen könnte. Ich könnte nach zwei Jahren Pause vom Schlossberg, wieder einmal hinauf spazieren. Das war in der aktiven Zeit nur einer der täglichen Spaziergänge gewesen. Aber diesen Programmpunkt hatte ich nicht vermisst, weil dort die Mitte zwischen der Wohnung meiner nächstjüngeren Schwester und mir ist. Bei zufälligen Begegnungen, reagiert sie auf meinen Gruß, wenn überhaupt, nur mit einem schwachen Kopfnicken. Das halte ich nicht aus. Seit dem vorigen Sommer hatte sich das durch ihre plötzlich aufgetretene schwere Krankheit geändert, aber sie bestellt mich oft hin, um mich bei nächster Gelegenheit wieder wegzuschicken, und ich bin froh, dass es ihr vorübergehend wieder besser geht, verbringe meine Tage aber in Bereitschaftshaltung.

fwbd7,49, Way up to the Schlossberg, oil on canvas, 40 by 60 cm. In between, I try to tell myself what I could now take as relief. After two years of not climbing the Schlossberg, I could take a walk up again. I used to do that daily when I was more active. However, I didn’t miss that because the Schlossberg is half way between the apartment of my next younger sister and me. At chance encounters, she only responded to my greeting, if at all, with a weak nod of the head. I could not deal with that. Since last summer things have changed because of the sudden onset of a serious illness. She often asks me to come just to send me away at the next opportunity and I am glad that she is temporarily better, but I spend my days on standby.

fwbd7,49. Salita sullo Schlossberg, olio su tela, 40 x 60 cm. Cerco anche di elencare tra me e me tutto quello che avrei potuto considerare una specie di sollievo. Dopo due anni potrei finalmente andare di nuovo sullo Schlossberg. Nel periodo di attività era stata solo una delle passeggiate quotidiane. Non mi era mancato però quella meta perchè anche  una mia sorella abitava nei dintorni e se la incontravo per caso, al mio saluto reagiva solo con un lieve cenno del capo o addirittura per niente. Mi faceva troppo male. Dall’estate scorsa la situazione è cambiata, anche per la sua grave malattia, ma spesso mi fa andare a casa sua per rimandarmi via senza spiegazione. Sono contenta che stia meglio per il momento. Comunque sono sempre pronta a intervenire.

fwbd50, Baumstämme, Öl auf Leinwand, 80 x 80 cm. Um mir einen Arbeitsweg zu erschaffen, gehe ich fast jeden Morgen zum Hilmteich und ein Stück in den Leechwald hinein. Irgendwann stellen sich die häufig gesehenen Baumstämme auf meinem nächsten Bild ein.

fwbd7,50, Trunks of trees, oil on canvas, 80 by 80 cm. To pick my way to my daily work, I walk to the Hilmteich every morning and a little further into the Leechwald. Eventually, the trunks of the trees, which I see every morning, appear in my painting.

fwbd7,50. Tronchi d’Alberi, olio su tela, 80 x 80 cm. Per creare un sentiero da lavoro quasi ogni giorno vado al lago, Hilmteich, e un pó più in là dentro il boschetto Leech. A un certo punto i tanti tronchi si meterializzano sul mio prossimo quadro.

fwbd7,53, Piazzale Montelungo, Flixbus. An der vierten Seite der Fortezza ist die breite Straße für die Busse, die „Piazzale Montelungo“, mit einer Baumreihe auf der Seite gegenüber der Festungsmauer, die als Messepalast in Verwendung ist. Bis dahin wäre mein Flixbus gegangen, den ich endlich auch einmal gebucht hatte, aber ich war wieder ausgestiegen, in dem Gefühl, es wäre besser, doch lieber hier zu bleiben. Nach Florenz fahren kann ich ja auch auf später verschieben.

fwbd7,53, Piazzale Montelunge, Flixbus, oil on canvas, 60 x 70 cm. On the fourth side of the Fortezza is the wide lane for the buses, the Piazzale Montelungo with a row of trees on the side opposite wall of the fortress, which is used as the trade fair palace. That is where the Flixbus, which I had finally booked for the first time, would have stopped, but I had got off again, feeling that it would be better to stay here. I can postpone going to Florence I said to myself.

fwbd7,53. Piazzale Montelungo, Flixbus, olio su tela, 60 x 70 cm. Lungo il quarto lato della fortezza   si trova la strada larga per i Pullman,  piazzale Montelungo, con una fila di alberi di fronte al muro della fortezza che ospita fiere. Fin lì sarebbe arrivato il mio Flixbus che avevo finalmente prenotato, ma dentro di me sentivo che era meglio rimanere dove ero. Riscesi. La gita a Firenze la possiamo anche fare un’altra volta, pensai.

fwbd7,56, Zwei Lesende, Ich liebe es, mit jemandem im selben Raum zu sitzen, und einfach nur entspannt zu lesen. Das kommt in Wirklichkeit so selten vor, dass ich mir diese Situation malend erträume. In meiner Wirklichkeit war ich nach wie vor dabei, meine Bücher weiter auszulichten, um vierzehn in Zweierreihen vollgestellte Regale auf fünf zu reduzieren, indem ich die weiterzugebenden Bücher auf verschiedene Büchertauschplätze, die es in meiner Wohngegend im Uni-Viertel gibt, zu verteilen.

fwbd7,56, Two readers, oil on canvas, 50 by 50 cm. I love sitting in a room with someone and reading calmly. In reality this happens so rarely that I dream of this situation while painting. As a matter of fact, I was still sorting out my books in order to reduce fourteen shelves filled in two rows to five by taking the books to various book exchange points in my residential area in the university district.

fwbd7,56. Due  Lettori, olio su tela, 50 x 50 cm. Mi piace proprio tanto stare nella stessa stanza con un’altra persona e dedicarmi a una lettura rilassante. Capita molto di rado in realtà e così mi sogno una tale situazione dipingendo. Nella mia realtà continuavo a smistare i miei libri per ridurre le quattordici file doppie di libri a cinque, portando i libri scartati ai vari punti libri che si trovano nel mio quartiere vicino all’università.
